Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon and Endoscopist

I graduated from Monash University, Melbourne. Having completed my General Surgical training, I commenced my sub - specialty training in Upper Gastro Intestinal Surgery in Melbourne. I then furthered my training in Fremantle Hospital before completing it at the renowned Pancreaticobiliary Unit at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, UK. I am a qualified specialist Emergency Physician and have been an instructor with the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) program since 1999.

Areas of expertise are:

1. All aspects of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery - benign and malignant.
2. Advanced laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal procedures (such as laparoscopic anti reflux surgery and hiatus hernia)
3. Advanced laparoscopic Pancreatobiliary procedures such as laparoscopic common bile duct exploration.
4. Other advanced laparoscopic procedures such as laparoscopic hernia repair (inguinal, femoral, ventral and incisional)
5. Upper Gastrointestinal endoscopy - diagnostic and therapeutic. (I am accredited by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia, GESA)
6. As a general surgeon, I perform an extensive range of general surgical procedures.

I am actively involved in research in Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgical topics. I am a clinical senior lecturer with the School of Medicine, The Uniivesity of Western Australia. In this role, I have been involved in teaching medical students and junior medical staff. I am also involved in medical research in topics such as advanced laparoscopic technique and the use of advanced material in surgery such as biodegradable stents. I have a dynamic relationship with the oncology and gastroenterology units both in the public and private health systems.
